About this session
Embrace your own soothing super-power!
Human touch is a very powerful thing. A hug or the resting of a hand on the shoulder can be incredibly soothing, no matter what is going on. Seldom though, do we utilize our own touch for self-nurturing. Self-Soothing Touch Guided Relaxation layers soft, gentle touch -- using your own hands and fingers -- with guiding words. It can become a regular self-care practice of its own.
What to expect
Each session will begin with an overview, followed by introductions and preparative direction.
The Guided Relaxation segment is approximately 20 minutes.
Afterward, there will be opportunity for brief sharing and group discussion as appropriate.
How to prepare
Wear loose-fitting clothes and have a blanket or sweatjacket available to keep you feeling warm and cozy if needed.
During relaxation, your body temperature may lower slightly — much like it does when you are sleeping — due to decreased movement for a period of time. Some people may feel cooler as a result of this. If you are too warm or too cold, it’s hard to relax, so be prepared for either condition.
Turn off your phone, buzzers, alarms, dings, notifications, announcements, etc.
These can wait. Distractions and disruptions make it difficult to relax into deeper states.
Give yourself the best possible chance to relax. Your well-being is the most important thing here!
Enjoy Guided Relaxation in these ways:
Lying down - on a yoga mat, floor or sofa
Seated - on a comfortable, supportive chair or on the floor using a cushion for comfort and wall for back support
